FREE Workshops

Studio Theatre Worcester is thrilled to offer a series of FREE theatre workshops to the community. Generously funded in part by a Worcester Arts Council project grant, our current workshop offerings include:

  • Intro to Stage Combat Basics (Unarmed)

  • Intro to Linklater Voice

  • Intro to Clowning

 

Additional workshops in other areas are being planned. Class size is limited to 10 for each workshop, so sign-up today to secure your spot!

Rebecca Schneebaum
Intro to Linklater Voice

Rebecca Schneebaum (she/her) is an actor, Designated Linklater Voice Teacher, and theater maker—Working hard so her dog has a comfortable life! She has performed in NYC, Boston, and across New England with LAByrinth Theatre Company, American Repertory Theatre, The Huntington Theatre, Boston Playwright’s Theatre, Actors' Shakespeare Project, Seacoast Repertory Theatre, Brown Box Theatre Project, and many others.

 

She has been a faculty member at Boston University’s CFA Acting program, Emerson College, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music. She also works as a voice and dialect coach with numerous theater companies and universities across the region.

 

In 2020 she created SnowTreeStudios to offer an affordable and virtual voice studio. As an actor, teacher, and human being in this world, Rebecca seeks to collaborate in ways that value the complexities and wellbeing of each person. She received her BFA in Acting from Emerson College and her MFA at CUNY Brooklyn College. She was designated by Kristin Linklater at the Linklater Voice Center, Orkney in 2017.

Valerie Madden
Intro to Linklater Voice

Valerie Madden is a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher, an actor, and a theatre educator. Madden was designated as a Linklater Voice teacher at the Linklater Voice Center in Orkney, Scotland in 2019.  She earned her MFA in Theatre Education from Emerson College in 2020. She currently teaches voice and text at Emerson College. Madden also teaches private voice lessons online and at her in-home studio in Boston, Massachusetts.

 

Previously Madden taught at Shakespeare & Company, where she directed over a dozen shows for their education department. Madden worked as a facilitator for Anna Deavere Smith's "Notes from the Field: Doing Time In Education" at the American Repertory Theater, engaging with audience members in conversations about the school-to-prison pipeline.

Madden's research interests center on how teachers' voices affect student learning in the K-12 setting.

Antonio Ocampo-Guzman
Intro to Clowning

Antonio Ocampo-Guzman is an actor, director and teacher, orginally from Bogotá, Colombia. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Theatre at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and is the Chair of the Department of Theatre.

Several of his articles and essays about his experiences as a bilingual theatre artist have been published in, among others, The Politics of American Actor Training, Colorblind Shakespeare, The Stanford Shakespeare Encyclopedia, American Theatre Magazine, the Voice & Speech Review, Paso de Gato (Mexico), Back Stage East and Dramatics Magazine.

MFA in Directing and a Graduate Diploma in Voice from York University, Toronto.

Intro to Stage Combat Basics (Unarmed)

Michael Bailey is a Cape Cod native who’s spent half his life involved in local theater. Michael served as Fight Director for Studio Theatre Worcester's production of Into the Breeches!, which marked his return to the fight direction game, and he’s grateful to Studio Theatre Worcester for the opportunity.

 

Previous credits include the Connecticut Renaissance Faire (fight director, actor, script writer) and Pastimes Entertainment (actor, script writer).

Michael is also a professional writer and independent author with 20 novels to his credit. You can find him online at innsmouthlook.com
